SPAM or Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE) has become a significant problem. Some Spam is simply advertising but others are more sinister containing pornographic links or a malicious payload. Some ISPs offer a filtered feed, tagging or deleting suspected spam. This has a varied success rate with reports of Spam not being stopped or, even worse, genuine messages being deleted.
Another option is to take on Spam filtering yourself. Open source products have been available for some time with the commercial market now beginning to catch up.

| • | SpamAssassin | open source with commercial spin-offs |
| • | Microsoft Outlook configuration | not really a product but a way to give yourself some respite without spending any more money. |
